Environmental Stories an Earth Day Celebration

EARTH DAY- ART- ENVIRONMENTAL VIDEOS

Weller Conference Center, the Clarke Center and the Mitchell College Library. Among the artists are naturalist photographer Frank Kaczmarek (adjunct faculty, microbiology), Scottish artist Ju Underwood DayNightSpring, a mixed media video installation), paintings from the Tributary Mill Conservancy (site of the American Eel project). The shows are curated by Mitchell College Guest Curator, Migdalia Salas, with assistance from Sharon Griffis of the Griffis Art Center and Mark Gerard McKee, adjunct faculty member (art and art history).

WELLER CENTER PROGRAM: 12 - 6 pm

Daynightspinning, 2008Multi Media Video Installation by
JU UNDERWOOD: I-Park Artist-in-Residence from Scotland
Music by Nihan Yesil: I-Park Artist-in-Residence from Istanbul, Turkey

The mixed media video and audio installation is a collaborative creation by video artist Ju Underwood and composer Nihan Yesil, during their I-Park residency in October 2008. The installation is one in which artistry using digital media, music and video combined with everyday objects and natural environment come together in a spectacular art form.

MITCHELL LIBRARY PROGRAM: 12 -6 pm

Paintings inspired by nature and created by the visiting Chinese, Uzbekistan, Vietnamese, American, Chilean, Bulgarian and Russian artists at the Griffis Art Center's International Artist-in-Residence Program. The exhibit features paintings of the GAC's Roger W. Dennis Impressionist Garden and the "Mill" property, home of the Tributary Mill Conservancy. The exhibit will be on view through June 30, 2008.
